Thoughts At the End of My First Full Month Blogging
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I started this blog some time in June, so July marks my first full month of blogging.. So, I figured I would share some of my highs and lows with my readers, and also thank everyone who has visited, commented, subscribed, etc. Without you, I’d just be a crazy person talking to myself on the internet
My High Points:
- I’ve enjoyed writing the articles, and I’ve learned a lot from writing them, and from reading many other personal finance blogs to guide me along the way. Blogging also forced me to track my spending, so I could share it (and tomorrow, when the final purchases clear on my card from today, I’ll have a complete tally of July’s income and expenses)
- I think I have sort-of figured out WordPress and have installed most of the Plug-In’s I’ll be needing (although any tips or any advice on things I am missing or ways to improve the blog would be appreciated)
- I’ve been mentioned on some Carnivals and some of my favorite blogs (and it is thrilling to see my name, albeit my anonymous name, in web print). Participating in Carnivals has helped me sort of get to know some of my fellow personal finance bloggers, and I really hope to get to know more of them (you?) and build more relationships with people who share my interests in frugality and smart spending
My Low Points
- My ad revenue hasn’t even brought in enough income to pay the cost of the webhosting and domain registation. I’m not doing this to make money (although it would be nice) but I’d like to break even if possible
- I haven’t gotten as many comments as I would like. I loved hearing from those of you who did take the time to comment, and I hope to encourage more of you to do so. Most of my favorite blogs have great comment sections with vigourous debates among readers. I want that. Hopefully with time.
- I’ve felt a suprising amount of blog envy, especially when other blogs that are new or newer than mine are mentioned on a big name blog, or get a lot more traffic than mine does. Oh well, at least I found some great reads.
