5 Things To Buy To Feel Rich

I am not a proponent of spending money, generally. At least not unless you have no debts and a good solid savings. Otherwise, there are very few things that I think are worth the sacrifice to financial freedom. However, there are a few area’s where I feel like everyone should treat themselves a bit. Here are 5 recommendations I have to make you feel rich, even if you are on a Raaman noodles budget…
1. Sleep on luxury linens
This doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg, but it will make you feel like a million bucks. We got some high thread count sheets at Amazon.com for a reasonable price, using gift cards we saved up from doing surveys. There is nothing that feels better than slipping into ultra soft and cozy 100% Egyptian cotton sheets.
2. Eat on “Good” China
Again, this doesn’t have to be the most expensive Waterford and Lenox China. If you don’t have nice china, head to TJ Maxx or Tuesday morning and get a boxed set. Pick a pattern that makes you feel elegant. Or, get our your wedding china once a week and set a nice table. Its not doing you any good in the closet, and it will make your leftovers or budget meals seem that much better. Most fine china is dishwasher safe anyway, but check your pattern.
3. Have a few pieces of Good clothing
I have a Ralph Lauren Black Label Cashmere sweater I got for Christmas one year. It came from Century 21, a discount designer shop in New York, and cost 1/5 the price that it would have cost anywhere else. It feels warm and luxurious and wonderful to wear and it has lasted me 5 years and still looks new. If you are willing to shop at thrift stores or discount stores, you can have a closet full of nice clothing. But either way, everyone should have one or two outfits that make them feel like a fashion diva
4. Buy a Good Pair of Shoes
This is similar to number 3, but I don’t buy used shoes so this set me back a little more. Try to go to DSW or an end of season sale. Buy high quality, comfortable shoes and take care of them. Your feet will thank you. Besides, there’s a camp of people that always say that they can tell a lot based on your watch or shoes.
5. Have one Really Good piece of furniture
Ours is a Henredon bed I bought at an estate sale for $250. Its solid, high quality, well made and wonderful. Between the bed and my high thread count sheets, going to bed every night is one of the highlights of my days.
